A risk score and match confidence answer different questions. The first expresses the risk context of a finding; the second, the assessment of how the record relates to the person searched for.

## Separate the two axes

A high-risk record can have a low identity match. A PEP record with a strong identity match, meanwhile, does not mean automatic rejection. Do not merge the two concepts into a single percentage.

## Model and institutional rule

Weights and thresholds are assessed against the institution's purpose and data scope. Do not present a sample scoring table as a universal compliance model. Do not neutralise mandatory processes with arbitrary weights.

## Explanation and validation

Explain which data the score rests on and the effect of missing information. Evaluate changes with representative samples; do not count producing fewer alerts as success on its own.
