UK EMI authorisation: assessment headings

Treating an EMI application as a product integration falls short.

Treating an EMI application as a product integration falls short. Scope of activity, governance, capital and operational requirements must be assessed together.

Entity and activity

Clarify which e-money or payment services will be offered. Do not choose the application type by looking at another organisation's example; verify the scope against current FCA statements.

Capital and currency

Read the capital amount together with the licence type and the applicable calculation rule. Do not rewrite euro amounts in FCA documents as sterling; do not present a currency conversion as a legal threshold.

Operations and controls

Identity checks, risk review, record-keeping and the use of outsourced services are only one part of application preparation. Instead of guaranteeing a fixed cost or completion time, build an institution-specific preparation plan.
