The role of the data model
Expressing party information in consistent fields makes interpretation between systems easier. The existence of a field does not mean its content has been verified.
How it differs from a protocol
How the data is transported, how the counterparty is found and how error cases are handled are separate integration topics. A provider saying "IVMS101" does not mean it connects to every network.
Implementation assessment
Check the version used, the interpretation of mandatory fields, validation rules and the exception flow against the technical documentation.
