Identity verification

How is digital KYC designed?

Digital KYC is a process in which identity checks are placed inside the user journey.

Digital KYC is a process in which identity checks are placed inside the user journey. Document capture, person check and review steps should be designed with separate purposes.

Input and control

Determine which data and documents are requested and for what purpose. Verify country, document and device scope before the user flow. Do not make collecting unnecessary data the default.

Results and exceptions

Define success, retry, unsupported document and additional review cases separately. Do not present a failed check as an automatic fraud finding.

Crypto and other sectors

On a crypto platform, an identity check does not replace wallet screening or the Travel Rule. In payment and banking flows the relevant institutional requirements are also determined separately. The same interface does not automatically satisfy a different legal scope.
