Travel Rule is the general name for rules that require information about the parties to certain transfers to be handled together with the transaction. Application varies by jurisdiction and transaction context.
How it differs from screening
AML or blockchain screening produces risk indicators. The Travel Rule concerns collecting and sharing the required transfer information. They can be used together on the same transaction, but neither replaces the other.
Basic workflow
Determine the scope of the transaction; collect the required information; assess the counterparty and data-sharing steps. Set up separate processes for missing information, no response and cases that need review.
Türkiye, EU and UK distinctions
Do not apply a single monetary threshold across all countries. In the EU, the TFR and MiCA are different regulations; UK Travel Rule requirements have applied since 1 September 2023. For Türkiye, scope is determined through current local legislation and official guidance.
